Groundhog Day Projects

Happy Groundhog Day to all!
I sure hope he doesn’t see his shadow….not that we’ve had much of a winter here anyways. This goofy warm to cold weather we’ve been having is really making everyone a little ill. Most folks have some type of cold or the flu; hell, even I’ve had a stuffy head the past couple of days even though I feel fine.
Anyways, I thought I’d show you what’s going on here this morning at the Amazing American Auto Care shop ![]()
Here’s my main project for today. I have to do the intake gasket on this 2002 Chevy Venture. Man, I’ll tell ya, as you can see in the pic, this thing is rough for a 2002! Such a nice roomy workspace too….the rear bank is almost hidden and I’ll have to do most of the work back there by feel alone.
This is my fill-in project on a 1999 Blazer. The rear hatch has this overly-complicated switch and motor mechanism for the liftglass and liftgate. 2 out of the 3 switches are bad and so is the wiper motor. All this for a simple tailgate….and to the tune of about $200 in repairs. Oh well, I don’t build them, buy them, or break them, just fix them ![]()
And finally, I’ll be helping my co-worker Dick with this hog of a vehicle. It’s 1998 Dodge 1 ton van equipped with a wheelchair lift and setup for transporting folks that need a ride to the doctor and such. It’s own by a local goverment-sponsored entity called TRIPS. Completely free, they transport seniors, disabled, and otherwise dis-enfranchised people to various locations in town, including even taking them to the store to buy food. It’s a nice system and we always give them a break on repairs.
Well, I’m off to get to work. Everyone have a good day!
As Always,
Chris
